Am redoing the kitchen of a very cute Victorian house and am rather tired of the whole stainless steel look. I love the french enamel ranges but don't have any information. In this state they sell mostly Wolf. I sense that in the end I'll probably go that route, but I'm resisting. Any info would be vastly appreciated, before it's too late!!!

Welcome to the forum, Tundranut

I am not quite sure what you mean by 'french kitchen' - but googled on these words and came up with this.

Is this what you mean?

Thanks for your reply. I may have misunderstood the notes, but I was referring to a cooker from France, sold for the home cook under the name of Le CorneFu, by a company named Le Cornue. Was just hoping for info about whether or not to put down the big bucks or buy something more normal.
-thanks again.

You know, if I could only spell, my world would be much improved. The range I'm talking about is made by La Cornue, not le cornue. La Cornue is a hand made cooker that costs about $30,000 and it's HUGE. It takes about 3-4 months to custom make. I don't want that one.

The company in the states is Purcell-Murray, out of California, and they sell those big expensive ones, plus the La Cornefu, which may be viewed on their web site. They have literature out about it, and it's on display at Williams Sonoma stores. I saw one in San Fran., and there's one here in Michigan, but for some reason, no one in the store can answer a single question about any of it.

The La Cornefu is a smaller home range w double ovens that open like French doors, which is a handy feature. The colors are absolutely gorgeous and come in a variety of stainless and brass trims, even a combo. I just don't know...do they have a good, or a bad rep? Do the owners have chronic problems, like the Viking with the constant ignition problems or the BlueStar w the sometime inability to successfully simmer? What happens if and when you need service...are the service companies knowledgeable or does the company stand behind their products and are they easy to work with, unlike Viking? I had a Viking and it was nice, but the company is difficult and I also had ignition problems w a constant clicking, etc. Everything you read about.

Sorry about this long post but I'm hoping for info if anyone knows anything. Thanks

I see Tundranut, thank you for explaining. Unfortunately I don't know of anyone owning and thus having experience with this kind of cooker. Stranger is even that La Cornefu doesn't show up any results at all at Google However when I look at La Cornue and its site I don't find that cooker to be abnormally big at all. Larger than the regular ones, but no extremely so.

I am sorry I couldn't help you any further. . .

Well, thanks for trying! But ya gotta admit, it's pretty. Ovens open like French doors. Otherwise very like Lacanche, which is the highest contender at the moment.
Thanks again.

Tundranut's experience in searching out info on La Cornefu range felt like deja vue to me. I cannot find a thing about them from anyone - I may just call the California distributor...Did you ever get answers to your questions? I am considering one for our new kitchen for have very little useful info at the moment.
