Wine ,Chocolate and Shoes Makes One Happy
Sometimes in life it's the small things that keep us going and in this slow economy it's those things people just won't give up.

Happiness can be red, white, or even brown and in a slow economy you can't put a price on happiness. But you can save on few bucks while getting there.

Monty Haltiner with Crossroads Wine and Spirits says, "People have been a lot more conscious about the price point they are shopping at." Haltiner says people haven't stopped buying wine they're just shopping for a better value. "You're looking 50 to 60 dollars, kind of expensive so most of our customers are looking going well that's nice but you know I can get two bottles of this that is maybe just a touch below the quality of that one, for you know half the price." says, Haltiner. And the same goes for beer. Haltiner says, people are "Trying to squeeze every little bit they can out of their budgets."

The same trend fits across town at Miss Marie's. Where shoppers are shying away from the more expensive brands, but still buying. Marie Beauregard owner of Miss Marie says, many woman "Splurge and maybe get two pairs of shoes for the price of one that they would have got before."

But can a pair of pumps pack the same punch as a bottle of wine? Beauregard says, "You can put on a pair of shoes and it just makes you feel better."
And when it comes to color, Beauregard says they are all great but red stands out. "As far as colors go probably red heals are probably peoples favorites to buy especially in a down economy."

Chocolate is also going strong. Andrea Gomez of Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory says, "We're doing fine, we haven't noticed... actually we're probably increasing right now." Gomez says, "Its definitely a feel good thing and that's why, you know, in times we're in right now, people buy chocolate, for that reason."

The Shoes Remix Golden Silvers

Acquired from the hallowed corridors of the Grindin network,* Reims’ The Shoes have given London’s I-guess-they’re-a-buzz-band-aren’t-they? Golden Silvers the remix treatment with their latest single, Arrows of Eros. It’s all tinny percussion, crunchy guitars and broken vocals, which is admittedly a little unremarkable, and yet it is fun, and The Shoes are nothing if not fun.

But I can’t help but think that they could’ve done so much more with this. It just feels like it needs a gentle nudge or two to tip it over the edge, but every time I go to do it, it’s all, “Back off, I know what I’m doing!” And then it’ll show me its gross, weird toes, being all, “See these? They’re keratinous spatulae, specifically evolved for the purpose of gripping onto precarious ledges such as this.” And then I’ll be like, “Dude, no one asked to see your feet!” as I stumble backwards away from the cliff face in sheer terror and disgust, watching it teeter impossibly in the breeze.

Dear 923Julia,

This is such a great post! Isn't that funny about shoes-- I've never found that true for me, but then again, I've never bought a pair of red shoes. It's so true about the chocolate. Things would have to get really bad, for chocolatiers to suffer! And, yes with the wine... we in the West are so fortunate to have the choices and the means to still buy wine, be it a cheaper variety, where in other countries wine would only make an appearance at a very special event.

Thanks for sharing that-- so interesting!

thank you for sharing information. It is very useful. I also agree your point. But sometimes we should not abuse this too in the second
